Rapid City, SD -- Mount Rushmore and Crazy Horse memorials June 1-4

Weather turned cold and rainy so decided to stay a couple days to chill out. Nice hotel but more than I wanted to spend--no luck with any discount web sites. I guess it's just high season. School out so lots of kids around. Didn't feel like driving in the rain.

Mount Rushmore as expected. Crazy Horse Memorial is going to be awesome when completed. Only the face is finished. Wonder if I'll even be alive when its done as it's been a few decades already. Much larger than Mount Rushmore and will be world's largest statue. Pretty amazing and done privately by the Polish American sculptor's family--I'm sure there's lots of support from Native Americans. They supposedly turned down $10 million from the federal government as they didn't want government control, etc.

Rode by dinosaur park and stopped at a black hills jewelry shop, but didn't buy anything.
