South Dakota 5-7 June -- Mitchell, Sioux Falls

Mitchell was pretty weird with the Corn Palace, and home to Sen. McGovern. Stayed at the Thunderbird Motel. Pretty average but nice people.

Sort of sceneryed-out but couldn't resist the Badlands.

Sioux Falls turned out to be more interesting than I thought. Stayed at Holiday Inn, got it on Priceline--no great bargains these days but not much more than the regular price of Motel 6, which goes up $20 per night for the weekend. Actually, the Holiday Inn, is about the nicest hotel so far, although starting to be a bit worn. Great pool and super Jacuzzi, even a sauna. Room huge with big windows and fridge and microwave. Went to a free jazz concert not far from hotel--visited some shops; very interesting and seems to have a sophisticated art scene. Nice people.
